Advent 1 – Let the Waiting Begin
Are you willing to wait? Are we willing to call our congregations to waiting?
Waiting is not unengaged, or disinterested; it is a seldom-practiced kind of engagement. One that is patient and persistent.
Advent waiting is expectant waiting. Advent waiting knows the whole story, but the knowing doesn’t rush ahead or blurt out the ending. Advent waiting loves the anticipation. It digs deep into each and every moment, mining for the joy, longing for the sparkling ore.
There is no ‘hurry’ in Advent. Let the scriptures guide you and let the music provide a rhythm and pace. From “Crown Him with many crowns” through “Wait for the Lord,” step by step, let the waiting begin.
